AWS is looking for an exceptional Workforce Planning practitioner with strategic expertise and a strong delivery record in building trust in partnership with the business and partnership with fellow strategists to advance adoption and effective use of Workforce Planning. Moreover, this practitioner will work in partnership with the core WFP team that requires thought leadership to advance WFP content across AWS. This individual has proficiency in employing workforce and human behavior insights, strong business operations fundamentals and good judgement. This individual will also provide thought leadership against future modelling capabilities and programs that enable the acceleration of revenue growth, improved operational efficiencies & delivery. Ultimately, the individual will be responsible for a sub-business level workforce plan of optimized size and level in service of predictably accelerating product innovation, and enhancing the customer experience.

In this role, you will be responsible for using operational and human capital data and leveraging tools and expertise to map enterprise strategies into actionable delivery plans. You will influence data driven business decisions that results in quantifiable outcomes, understanding complex business relationships, and developing a quantitative return on investment

Key job responsibilities

• Support and drive the workforce planning strategy for a business unit within AWS to optimize job level, role, programs and location mix that aligns to business goals.

• Build workforce demand models for a complex and matrixed organization to Influence strategic workforce planning decisions, identifying risks and building data-driven solutions

• Collaborate with AWS leaders, Finance teams, Business Operations teams, Talent Acquisition teams, and other critical stakeholders to drive alignment on forward looking workforce plans that ensure AWS business have the right workforce, in the right places, at the right times

• Identify and Implement workforce demand planning and management tools and technology enablers that will improve operating accuracy and efficiency

• Communicate workforce plans and report on their execution to critical stakeholders, and continuously improve the planning and execution cycle

• Prepare management reporting and monitor performance by collecting, analyzing and summarizing performance data and trends, identifying and resolving problems and developing recommendations

A day in the life

As a Senior Workforce Planning Strategist within AWS, you will partner with the business and set the vision and direction for a high quality, quantified, and actionable workforce plan. You will play a key role on the Workforce Planning Engagement sub-team team that influences the long-range plans of the business and the technical agenda that supports it. You will influence senior leaders globally on strategic decisions impacting AWS’ future. This role works closely with cross functional teams including HR, Finance, Strategy, and Operations.

The ideal Workforce Strategist has a strong sense of ownership, is self-driven, loves breaking new ground. You will bring a mix of experience including complex global program management, senior stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, strategic planning, operational planning, and process improvement. Basic Qualifications

  • • 5+ years of experience in program or project management and demonstrated delivery and ownership of program strategy in a complex or matrixed environment

  • • Prior background in operational or similar work for business-critical services, including estimating resource requirements, defining metrics, and driving improvements to processes

  • • Demonstrated cross-team collaboration skills and effectiveness in communicating with stakeholders, peers and executives, both written and verbal

  • • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements and influence decision-making

Preferred Qualifications

  • • Advance Degree (MS/MBA) in the field of organizational behavior, human resources, operations or strategy

  • • Experience in large scale Workforce, Operations, or Capacity planning functions

  • • Experience working with data analytics and visualization using tools like SQL, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, or Quicksight

  • • Ability to set up and implement processes to improve efficiency and scale up operations in a matrixed organization

  • • A record of customer advocacy and influence without authority is important for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
