Amazon Security’s Threat Detection team provides the threat detection coverage for all of Amazon. In other words, we’re the people who keep Amazon secure from threat actors. We provide coverage to all of Amazon & it subsidiaries across endpoint, cloud, network and application vectors ensuring Amazon infrastructure and customers data is secured. You’ll be part of a diverse team spanning software and security engineering disciplines. You’ll collaborate with leaders across Amazon Security to help us build complex threat detection product, delivering comprehensive threat detection coverage at optimal business costs. Our product is at the forefront of innovating the sophisticated, low-latency, high-performance threat detection solutions. Our industry-leading solutions are critical to safeguarding Amazon's success and protecting customer data. We're seeking an experienced Sr. Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the program management of our next-generation threat detection platform. Our mission in Threat Detection hinges on the successful development of rapid, customer-facing product solutions that effectively manage vast amounts of data (multiple PBs per day) and, enabling security engineers to build and maintain threat detection quickly using the cutting-edge technologies.

The ideal TPM candidate will have extensive experience in technical program management, adept at collaborating across diverse disciplines such as software, security, and finance. They will be a proactive leader with deep cloud computing and AWS expertise and, committed to delivering superior threat detection solutions at low cost. The candidate will have an obsession with data accuracy and leverage data to make informed decisions.

Key job responsibilities

Product Roadmap Planning:

  • Collaborate with PM and managers to establish a realistic and structured product roadmap.

  • Ensure the planning process is aligned with both short-term and long-term goals.

Program Management & Leadership Reporting:

  • Demonstrate effective writing skills for clear communication.

  • Proactively identify potential risks and report status to leadership.

  • Own the product section of multiple Business Reviews (xBRs)

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Keep customers and stakeholders engaged through consistent and periodic program reports.

  • Maintain regular communication with customers and stakeholders to ensure their needs and feedback are addressed.

Engineering Community Influence:

  • Engage and influence the engineering community to ensure the right work is prioritized and completed efficiently.

Process Improvement:

  • Conduct periodic retrospectives to evaluate and improve existing processes.

  • Implement continuous improvements based on feedback and retrospective findings.

Resource and Strategic Planning Support:

  • Assist in the annual process for resource allocation and strategic planning (OP1/OP2).

  • Drive the standardized product development lifecycle to meet customer threat detection needs.

Scenario Analysis:

  • Utilize what-if analysis to evaluate how changes in project scope, sequence, or duration affect project outcomes.

  • Adjust dependencies and resource allocation to optimize project duration, cost, and productivity.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
