We, the AWS Sales, Marketing, & Global Services (SMGS) Data Platform Team, are in the business of helping AWS gain insights into the organization’s Sales, Marketing, and Global Services data at scale to better serve our customers, while raising the bar for security. We are looking for a results-oriented, driven Senior Technical Program Manager who can work with our engineering and product teams to deliver capabilities and improvements on a multi-petabyte data lake, and work with our internal customers through adoption. In this role, you will be responsible for important program deliveries such as driving the end-to-end execution of complex data lake migrations; data platform enhancements; and advanced data engineering, security, and analytics projects. The ideal candidate thrives in an innovative and highly technical environment, relishes solving data-related challenges, and enjoys understanding and delivering on customer needs.

Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, scoping, resourcing, and delivery of major data platform initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical requirements

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including data engineering, data science, security, and business intelligence to drive integrated solutions with cross-organization alignment

  • Develop and monitor detailed project plans, proactively manage risks and dependencies, and communicate status to stakeholders

  • Address bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus security and technical constraints

  • Mentor other Technical Program and Product Managers while advancing our operating procedures, protocols, and best practices

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse teams, with strong customer focus, to achieve shared goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering

  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • Proficient in the use of AWS data services (e.g. S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR, etc.) or other cloud technologies for data management

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
