Background on the team and product: We are part of Amazon’s Video Advertising organization, an essential part of Amazon’s growth. Video Advertising is complex, containing multi-sided markets with many technologies at play. Our team focuses on Video Advertising, which is growing rapidly and evolving as viewers are shifting from traditional TV viewing to Over The Top ‘OTT’ services. Publishers are quickly moving to OTT and growing their ability to monetize through advertising. Amazon’s video and audio advertising programs are rising competitors in this industry.

Amazon’s service has differentiated assets in our customer & audience insights, exclusive video content, exclusive audio content, and associated inventory on our streaming services (Freevee, Twitch, Prime Video, etc.) and devices (FireTV, Echo, Fire Tablet) which positions us well to compete as an end-to-end service for advertisers and agencies. As our business grows, we are continually experimenting with a portfolio of emerging ideas and technology as well as global expansion. We are looking for passionate, hard-working, and talented individuals to help foster these nascent ideas into scalable products and launch them into the market.

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves and dive deep. As a Sr. TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. High judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr. Technical Program Manager you will be responsible for;

  1. Scoping and delivering new Advertising products end-to-end, working with our engineering team and sister engineering teams.

  2. Collecting business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch.

  3. Diving deep into the Amazon Ads architecture and systems, to learn about new opportunities and or ways to invent and simplify our approach.

  4. Making appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

  5. Be a highly visible leader that will own the communication, coordination, and execution of key product launches, including engaging on a regular basis with Senior leaders.

  6. Developing mechanisms to scale our business including; OP1, stakeholder reporting, onboarding of new properties.

  7. Continuously raising the bar of the team e.g. conducting retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
