Amazon Sr. Software Development Engineer, Alexa Ads in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer (Sr. SDE) to join a technical team that will accelerate the integration of existing and new Amazon demand sources for Alexa Ads. You will join a team that builds our core tech stack utilizing the leading edge of Generative AI. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience in designing, constructing, or integrating Ad systems that are scalable and used across organizations, representing needs from end users, publishers and advertisers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance, scalable and robust Ad tech systems in a complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment.

  • Collaborate with other engineering, product, and UX teams to have direct impact on our customers' daily life.

  • Understand a broad range of design approaches, making technical trade-off decisions.

  • Solve difficult software problems, drive best practices and improve the speed of delivery. Solutions are logical, testable, maintainable, and efficient.

  • Be hands-on and mentor engineers to architect and deliver solutions for complex problems.

A day in the life

As a Sr. SDE, you will lead a part of a team of passionate developers that build the foundation for a nascent, new Ads business for Alexa. You will launch fast and iterate quickly. Your work will be seen immediately by millions of Alexa customers. Amazon has a culture of data-driven decision-making that is timely, accurate, and actionable. You will be working in one of the largest and most complex technical environments in the world. Most of all, you will help build a business model for Alexa, and have fun doing it.

About the team

We are an energetic team of product managers, program managers, software development engineers, quality assurance engineers and data engineering specialists. We will utilize our advancements in natural language understanding, generative AI and UX invention on ambient screens to bring trusted information and valuable offers to the right customer at the right time, and help businesses succeed by connecting with customers in a relevant and transparent way.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
