Amazon Sr. Program Manager in Seattle, Washington

Description

Are you an expert logistician, fluent in Global Trade and Compliance rules?

Are you relentless in the pursuit of top-performance, eliminating waste, creating detailed new policy, identifying root causes and implementing creative and scalable process improvements across emerging and remote marketplaces?

Are you an exceptional senior program manager with proven leadership skills?

Does the thought of inventing, simplifying, and scaling a highly complex global device retrieval program excite you?

If so, you may have what it takes to succeed in our Device Safety & Compliance team (DSC) within our Device Digital & Alexa Support (D2AS) team.

DSC's four main programs detect, assess, escalate and retrieve potential faulty devices that carry a potential risk to customers and the Amazon brand via our Device Safety, FDA Compliance, Device Recovery and Right to Repair programs.

The Device Recovery Sr. PM sets the direction and roadmap for the D2AS Device Recovery program governing policy for retrieval of Amazon's 1P devices from customers around the world to Lab126 and its partners.

You will play a crucial role in shaping the operational strategies and policies that guide the DSC Operations, Global Trade Services, and Device Global Logistics teams. Your responsibilities will span both tactical execution and strategic planning.

You will lead complex initiatives from inception to completion, ensuring seamless collaboration across various teams and stakeholders.

A key aspect of your role will be to identify and remove roadblocks that hinder progress, enabling teams to deliver results more efficiently. You will prioritize and balance the needs of the D2, Devices Org, and legal teams, making informed trade-offs between short-term and long-term objectives when necessary.

In challenging situations, you will demonstrate the ability to drive progress independently, while considering the broader implications of your decisions. You will develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and return on investment (ROI) metrics to measure and optimize operational effectiveness.

Effective communication and the ability to simplify complex concepts will be essential in this role, as you will need to convey information clearly to diverse audiences. Maintaining a customer-centric mindset and understanding the impact of your work on the end-user experience will be crucial for success.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage complex initiatives, delivering critical solutions, significant improvements, new mechanisms, or deprecating processes that are no longer needed. These efforts require you to work with multiple teams in and/or across organizations.

  • Accountable for the overall strategy of a large program. You successfully manage all stages (from concept to delivery).

  • Understand the inter dependencies of the business problems you help solve (e.g., aligned workflows, customer requirements, process limitations, legal and compliance requirements, program support, etc.).

  • Influence team priorities and business strategy through data-driven contributions.

  • Able to make a case for project priorities, resource allocation, and/or appropriate program adoption, to achieve a desired business outcome, resolve a deficiency, or unblock delivery.

  • Communicate ideas effectively, verbally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences including Directors and VPs.

  • Foster a constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead the resolution of contentious issues (build consensus).

  • Partner successfully with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams.

  • Your program management practices set a great example to others. You routinely and efficiently deliver the right things. You define clear goals and objectives. You drive crisp decisions in your program area about what projects move forward and in what priority order.

  • Proactively identify risks and bring them to the attention of your team and stakeholders with plans for mitigation before they become roadblocks.

  • Actively participate in the hiring process as well as mentor others - improving their skills and ability to get things done.

A day in the life

You will work closely with senior leaders across cross-functional stakeholder teams within Amazon to drive collaboration and influence them to prioritize projects, meet objects and adhere to business plans towards shared objectives.
