Amazon Sr. Manager, TPM, Item Identity in Seattle, Washington

Description

One of the reasons why the catalog buying experience on Amazon is appealing to buyers is because Amazon controls and curates product listings a buyer sees. This provides Amazon buyers a one stop experience to find all information about the product, sellers who are selling the product, and offers available for purchase. Item Identity organization is responsible for transforming seller listings into products buyers can purchase on the Amazon Marketplace. The portfolio of services and products we own directly impacts both seller and buyer experiences on a massive scale. As a Sr. Manager, TPM you will collaborate with a wide range of business/partner teams to establish overall business strategy and vision. You will be leading team of technical product and program managers. You will drive product/program roadmaps to enable solutions that allow business teams to expand product selection across different marketplaces on Amazon.com, and eliminate catalog defects which leads to loss of buyer’s trust. You will also work with applied scientists to explore how machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs) can be leveraged to improve accuracy of listing-to-product transformations at scale, and integrate it as part of overall product roadmap.

Key job responsibilities

• You will build relationships with stakeholders, earn trust through transparency and alignment.

• You will dive deep into our customers business to understand pain points and future needs.

• You will lead an existing team of technical program and product managers.

• You will partner with stakeholders to define strategy and roadmaps for the strategic areas your team owns.

• You will bring strong data-driven business and technical judgement to product/program/architecture decisions.

• You will be representing verbally and in writing complex decisions, tough trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly to leaders up to 3 levels above.

• You will support your team in driving the business/area reviews, alignment with stakeholders, business/architectural decisions, and establishing critical mechanisms necessary to successfully execute within each strategic area.

• You will hire and develop high performing technical product and program management organization, and will be responsible for career growth of your team.

• You will be responsible for the overall coordination, and the primary point of contact for world-wide stakeholders for programs and products that you run.

• You will lead high-quality execution of software products and programs against project plans and delivery commitments.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field

• 10+ years of relevant program/product management experience

• 3+ years of relevant people management experience

• 5+ years of experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

• Experience owning and driving product/program roadmap and strategy

• Strong understanding of software development process with an appreciation for maintaining a high-quality bar with low operational overhead

• Excellent communication skills in written and oral English with the ability to face external and internal customers in a professional and mature manner

• Candidates should demonstrate superior project management and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Computer science/Math or related field

• Experience in delivering Amazon-scale systems

• An understanding of distributed and service-oriented architectures

• Proven analytical thinking, skills in metrics creation and project management, attention to details, and exceptional organizational skills

• Prior experience building complex, real-time software systems involving AI, ML, product graphs, semantic search, successfully delivered to customer

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $155,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $302,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
