Our vision for Kindle is to make every book ever published, in any language, available for every customer in less than 60 seconds. The Kindle Store team plays a key role in making this vision happen by providing a shopping experience that help customers discover the next book to read. We are looking for a creative, deeply technical and customer-obsessed engineers to implement new technology solutions that define the future of digital Shopping.

This role focuses on improving the shopping experience for users of the Kindle E-Reader. Millions of Amazon customers shop on their Kindle every month, and we need a creative and ambitious Sr. Front End Engineer to help us raise the bar on this unique front-end development challenge.

Key job responsibilities

The Sr. FEE is the resident expert in web technologies and in building composable, maintainable, delightful UIs.

  1. We need to build better shopping experiences, faster. Our existing tech stacks might not get us there. Should we fix what we have, or move onto something new? You tell us.

  2. Convince stakeholders that your answers to (1) are the right ones.

  3. Create tech designs that improve our software architecture with minimal risk to existing customer experiences; make sure that the designs can be implemented by folks less experienced than you.

  4. Write excellent UI code using frameworks such as React, React Native, Lit, and good ol' JSPs. Or whatever you think the right framework is (see 1).

  5. Set up mechanisms to raise the bar on front-end development throughout the broader organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a broad range of software design approaches and common UX patterns.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
