Description

The Business Manager is the relationship owner for Fulfillment Technologies and Robotics (FTR), Electronic Manufacturing & Integration Services (EMIS) suppliers, that provide co-development resources, procure components, design, manufacture, test, kit, integrate and distribute products. In this capacity the Business Manager has the responsibility to:

• Lead the sourcing, selection, contract negotiation and management of one or more EMIS suppliers in alignment with the overarching supply chain strategy. Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in engineering and logistics services, delivery, cost, quality, inventory mgt, capacity/flexibility, business and contract mgt, and social responsibility.

• Lead the commercial and contractual aspects of the relationship and drive multifunctional teams relative to EMIS suppliers’ involvement.

• Lead the EMIS supplier performance management and cross-functional recurrent business reviews.

• Actively engage with Program, Operations, Procurement, Quality, Finance, and Engineering organizations with the EMIS suppliers on one or more products/product lines to achieve the programmatic objectives.

• Collaborate with technical operations, engineering, and program teams on new product introduction to ensure that sourcing strategies meet the technical capabilities, cost, and business objectives.

Key job responsibilities

This requires the Business Manager be both an advocate for the supplier within FTR and be their strongest critic to ensure the best possible performance. The Business Manager will instill a forward-thinking collaborative and mutually-beneficial long-term relationship with a holistic point of view. These high-profile responsibilities require significant breadth and business acumen like:

• Technical - Solid understanding of the EMIS supplier landscape and capabilities in addition to fulfillment technologies and robotics and manufacturing.

• Negotiation Skills – Lead all commercial discussions related to EMIS relationships. Able to negotiate best in class contract pricing, terms and conditions on large contracts. Exercise good judgement in knowing when and how best to address issues or drive change.

• Contract Management – Ensure that the suppliers execute and adhere to the contracts to realize benefits from bundling work with Strategic Suppliers.

• Financial – Responsible for managing the business relationship including contracts, pricing, terms and conditions and claims. Must be an effective negotiator.

• Relationship Builder – Must have the ability to engage, influence and arbitrate both the supplier and the FTR stakeholder organizations at the operational and Sr. Executive levels. Must build strong business cases and have a strong executive presence.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management and/or Finance.

• Experience working internationally with/for Electronic Manufacturing and integration services suppliers.

• 7+ years of experience in supply chain, supplier management, commodity management, account management, strategic sourcing and/or manufacturing operations.

• 5+ years of experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams and/or in program or project management

• Demonstrated use of technical, analytical, and management skills to lead RFQs, supplier selection, supplier capacity planning, and supplier risk identification/mitigation in NPI programs.

• Experience with contract negotiation and execution with domestic and internationally based contract manufacturers. Exceptional negotiation and executive supplier management skills.

• Experience developing, leading, and executing global supplier cost, risk, and lead time reduction strategies (continuous improvement).

• Experience defining program execution requirements, and using data and metrics to determine improvements (data driven).

• Experience developing and implementing mechanisms and standardize business processes (process driven).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Industrial or Operations Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• Demonstrated ability to work in an ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple stakeholders, responsibilities, and delivering multiple first-of-their-kind programs with aggressive schedules.

• Highly effective oral and written communication skills.

• Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office tools, Tableau analytics, and ERP/PLM Systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
