Description
The People Analytics, Insights, and Research (PAIR) team within PXT supports two of Amazon’s most exciting businesses: Devices & Services (the innovators behind Echo, Kindle, Ring and Kuiper Low-orbit satellite program) and Artificial General Intelligence (the team behind Generative AI foundational model development at Amazon). We are seeking an experienced, curious and motivated Sr. Business Analyst to act as our direct liaison and “Analyst in the Line” for several PXT organizations supporting Devices businesses. Our work is dedicated to empowering leaders and enabling action through data and science. In addition to standard reporting, we seek to leverage analytics to help our leaders focus their efforts in ways that will engage, retain and grow their team members to propel the business forward.
Key job responsibilities
Interview stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into data and analytic deliveries to be actioned by yourself and the team.
Write Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) jobs using sql and Amazon Big Data Technology in order to create fully-automated business metrics and insights.
Own the design, development, and maintenance of business-driven people metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. in order to drive key business decisions
Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in the data pipelines and work with appropriate upstream data owners to resolve.
Review and audit existing team-owned ETL jobs, SQL queries, permission structures and metrics presentation for accuracy and to maintain the highest standard.
Identify and recommend opportunities to Junior analysts in order to enhance capability and quality of team operations and outputs.
Learn and understand a growing range of Amazon and specifically PXT data resources and discover how, and when to use which data sets.
A day in the life
Work closely with HR teams across the globe, building on your strong analytical skills to support multiple teams with regular production of metrics and analytics that are meaningful and scalable.
Use your skills in ETL, automation, and data visualization to provide actionable insights for our teams.
Develop, automate and maintain Monthly and Quarterly business reviews for leaders in supported businesses
Conduct and present statistical analysis, such as regressions, chi-square testing, and confidence intervals in order to distill decisions from large-scale data.
Establish scalable, efficient and automated processes for large scale data analyses
Provide ad-hoc or special project data analysis to PXT Business Partners and Devices Business Leaders that enable them to achieve their people KPIs, drive decision making and create new strategies.
About the team
The PAIR team is a multi-functional team which leverages diverse skills of engineers, analysts and researchers in order to curate an optimal set of tools and innovative products for our customers in PXT and in the D&S and AGI businesses.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
3+ years of writing SQL queries and creating business intelligence reports using Tableau, Power BI experience
Bachelor's degree
Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
Experience with Excel
Experience with SQL
Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
