The ESG-eX team's mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted ESG reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholders’ expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their ESG reporting obligations and effectively manage their ESG opportunities and risks.

The Worldwide Sustainability ESG Reporting team is looking for a detail focused, results-oriented and collaborative business analyst to support building Amazon’s global ESG disclosure processes and tools with analytics that enable the rapid production of trustworthy and useful ESG reports.

This role will work cross functionally to understand regulatory reporting requirements, our programs and key metrics so that they can scale our regulatory ESG reporting infrastructure and develop scalable processes to produce insights from data using existing tech infrastructure. The primary customer for this role will be ESG report owners at Amazon.

Your responsibilities will support the delivery of Amazon’s regulatory ESG reports in a rapidly evolving global regulatory environment. This will involve building efficiencies in our reporting tools: i.e using queries and linking features in Workiva. You will also build analytic reporting tools and processes, collecting key metrics from partner teams, and coordinating communications to senior leadership within our organization and legal, accounting and finance teams.

As a Business Analyst, you will help develop an analytic solution to drive deep dives, provide insights into the health and state of operations for our reporting process. Automating data flow and building efficiencies in our processes will be a primary focus. You will transform data into ready to use data for disclosure purposes and will support reporting to stakeholders worldwide.

A successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, and will have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines. You will have a proven track record of successful delivery of results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. Customer teams will look to you to derive insights into variances for ESG metrics, reporting, and analysis for ESG Regulatory Reporting.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create analysis that allows ESG reporting teams to understand the correlation between ESG data sets to drive actionable outcomes by leveraging business analysis, metric and data management experience, reporting, and analytic tools/languages like SQL, Excel, etc.

  • Build efficiencies in reporting tools by maintaining, updating and building queries and linking features within Workiva.

  • Build tools that deliver meaningful insights through collaboration with ESG reporting specialists, software engineers, data engineers, and business analysts. Produce written recommendations and insights to help shape effective metric development and reporting.

  • Develop and drive best practices in reporting and analysis (data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation) with an understanding of core requirements for data validation, quarterly close processes, and external reporting.

  • Travel up to 25%.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Math, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.

  • 5+ years of experience using Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and visualization tools such as Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.

  • 2+ years of experience working with Workiva (a third-party reporting tool) and in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills

  • 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience

  • Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

  • Experience with creating and building predictive/optimization tools that benefit the business and improve customer experience

  • Experience articulating business questions and using quantitative techniques to drive insights for business and communicating with technical and non-technical senior level managers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
