Blue Origin LLC Sr Avionics Lab Systems Engineer - Lunar Permanence in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will design and build the Lunar Lander Vehicle Test Bed (VTB). The VTB will provide an environment to integrate the vehicle avionics and flight software for system development, verification, and validation. The VTB will include software simulations and hardware emulators, as well as software for interfacing with these simulations and emulators. The test environment will also include connections to NASA spacecraft emulators, which will require frequent collaboration with NASA and the development of prototypes for inter-element testing. Your focus will be on the integration and testing of all the vehicle subsystems in the VTB. Because of the need for hands-on work, this position requires on-site work at Kent, WA. Responsibilities: Participate in the requirements, design, architecture, verification, and certification Coordinate with the vehicle subsystem teams to define their test requirements and to integrate their subsystems in the VTB. Identify and procure equipment, and coordinate with technicians for the build, assembly, and installation of equipment and harnesses. Support the integration of flight avionics, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify the requirements and performance of the flight software Support problem investigation and resolution Develop the VTB integration and change management plans. Maintain configuration control of the VTB HW and SW configuration. Minimum Qualifications: B.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent 8+ years of relevant engineering experience Industry experience with avionics systems integration and verification Excellent problem investigation skills and proficiency in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power meters, data acquisition cards, etc) Experience defining, designing, and building avionics labs, electrical ground support equipment, and/or test assets for hardware in the loop testing Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
