At Amazon, a large portion of our business is driven by third-party Sellers who set their own prices, and run their own promotions. The Pricing team is seeking a Sr. Applied Scientist to use statistical and machine learning techniques to design, evangelize, and implement state-of-the-art solutions for never-before-solved problems, helping Sellers offer Customers great prices, deals and promotions.

The Applied Scientist will apply advanced techniques like Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs), Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs), CNNs and Transformers to develop robust price and deal forecasting models.

Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is essential, with a strong understanding of deep learning techniques. Experience in forecasting domains such as finance, weather, or demand planning is highly valued.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of applied research experience

• 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience

• PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience

• Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl

• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.

• Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
