Blue Origin LLC Software Engineer III - Lunar Lander Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will design and build the software for the Zero Boil Off (ZBO) cryocooler program HIL. The HIL will provide an environment to integrate the ZBO electronics and software for system development, verification, and validation. The HIL will include software simulations and hardware emulators, as well as software for interfacing with these simulations and emulators. Responsibilities: Design and code automated test equipment software to support formal and informal verification of avionics requirements (qualification and acceptance testing) Participate in the requirements, design, and architecture Develop software for various prototype objectives Integrate software models, sensor drivers, and hardware emulators Support the integration of flight avionics, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify the requirements and performance of the flight software Support problem investigation and resolution Establish and follow software development processes to ensure test equipment software is reliable, released and configuration managed Minimum Qualifications: B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree 5+ years of relevant experience Proficiency troubleshooting analog and digital hardware with bench measurement equipment and data acquisition equipment Experience with Linux and other Unix-style operating systems Proficiency with Devops tools such as Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins, and Artifactory Proficiency with higher-level programming languages such as Python or C/C++ Strong software development skills and debugging Deep understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science in Computer Science 8+ years of relevant experience Experience with Software Requirements Development Experience planning, executing, and reporting electronics testing Familiarity with sensors including linear variable differential transformers, resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and resolvers Experience with NASA tools cFS and Trick Experience with IP networking (IEEE 802.3) Experience with communications protocol RS-422/485 Experience with distributed simulation implementation standards such as HLA or DIS Experience with DO-178, NPR-7150, or similar guidelines Experience with mission operations and ground data systems Compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $141,480-$188,640 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
