Customers always want higher availability, more bandwidth, greater network security, less network latency, less network jitter, and lower overall cost. We are reimagining the traditional planning, provisioning, and life cycle by creating SDN services that allow customers to connect their on-premises networks, data center networks, and/or other networks via enterprise-grade links to Oracle’s cloud. Customers can then access dozens of leading PaaS and IaaS services that span database, Java, integration, analytics, compute, and storage. At its core, our SDN services provide customers with rapid configuration, pay-as-you go pricing, and seamless scalability.
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Manager to lead a team of DevOps systems engineers that will support a wide range of network automation and control plane services that are critical to managing and scaling our network infrastructure.
As the manager, you will be responsible for:
Setting, prioritizing and delivering goals for system uptime, service metrics, performance, deployment automation
Managing reliability and manageability of the infrastructure that supports our network automation and control plane services
Act as a mentor/technical leader to a team of 6-8 DevOps systems engineers
Building out networking automation and monitoring services in new region
Oversee efforts to develop service debugging tools, developing deployment automation solutions, build and manage test environments for services
Collaborating with sister Networking teams to identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce our systems resource footprint
Bachelor’s degree in CS or related engineer field
3-5 years management experience in a development, system engineering or DevOps environment.
Experience working in an online services or cloud provider environment
Strong operational background, experience with building service monitoring and debugging solutions, defining and measuring service metrics
Experience with scripting and compiled languages, Python and shell scripting preferred as well as RESTful API experience
Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and SSL, HTTP
Experience managing a linux environment, docker, and managing distributed systems
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Excellent judgment in influence for product roadmap direction, features, and priorities
Experience with network service tooling and various network topologies
Experience with SQL or noSQL technologies
Experience with managing on-call rotations and on-call as incident manager role
Position is location in the Oracle Cloud Dev Center Seattle, Washington.

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.
Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
