Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an innovative and passionate engineering manager to architect and build new capabilities for our Investments Platform. The AWS Investments platform is a collection of products and services that streamline and optimize sales and marketing program operations, engagement, and management. You will have the opportunity to join a dynamic team with diverse skill sets, be able to influence our technical direction and build exciting new capabilities that operate at Amazon scale. The platform will provide the foundation for full-stack applications built using native AWS technologies. You will interface with several key stakeholders of this platform including our product, program leaders and with our key technical partners across AWS.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.

• Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.

• Manage multiple development teams focused on creating the complex platforms for personalized experiences.

• Mentor your team members to promote engineering excellence.

• Drive continual improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of the business platform while keeping an extremely high bar customer trust, performance, and availability.

• Leverage strong communication skills and a passion for using data and software to drive business decisions at scale.

• Prepare technical requirements and software design specifications

• Report on status of development, quality, operations and system performance to management

About Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience

• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

• Experience partnering with product and program management teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
