Amazon is building a world class advertising business and defining and delivering a collection of self-service performance advertising products that drive discovery and sales of merchandise. Our products are strategically important to our Retail and Marketplace businesses, driving long-term growth. Sponsored Products (SP) helps merchants, retail vendors, and brand owners grows incremental sales of their products sold on Amazon through native advertising. SP achieves this by using a combination of machine learning, big data analytics, ultra-low latency high-volume engineering systems, and quantitative product focus. We are a highly motivated, collaborative and fun-loving group with an entrepreneurial spirit and bias for action.

Join the Sponsored Products organization to work on an exciting early-stage product that is strategic for Amazon’s advertising business. You will lead a team of engineers who are building systems for high-scale ad-serving and machine learning to solve novel product problems. You will drive product and engineering goal definitions, technical requirements for product releases, engineering design, delivery, and operations. You will hire, lead and mentor industry-leading talent. You will develop technical plans to support efficient growth of the business on a multi-year timeframe. You will collaborate with product and business leaders to find elegant solutions for customer problems, and partner with engineering teams across Amazon advertising. You will influence senior advertising leaders through your technical vision, management practices and high standards. More importantly, you will have the opportunity to broaden your technical and leadership skills, and be a leader in an environment that thrives on creativity, experimentation, and innovation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with digital advertising and early-stage product development.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
