Amazon Software Development Manager , Selling Partner Experience in Seattle, Washington

The Selling Partner Experience (SPX) organization strives to make Amazon the best place for Selling Partners (SPs) to do business. Providing adequate assistance to our Selling Partners and enhancing their experience when doing business with Amazon has always been our number one priority. We continue to invest in technology to improve this experience for our SPs. We are building an AI powered assistant, that will be a trusted partner and a seasoned advisor that’s always available to enable our partners to thrive in Amazon’s stores. The Selling Assistant will take away the cognitive load of selling on Amazon by providing a single interface to handle a diverse set of selling needs. The assistant will always stay by the partner's side, talk to them in their language, enable them to capitalize on opportunities, and help them accomplish their business goals with ease.

Building such an assistant requires a strong leader to drive the vision. This assistant is built by leveraging a multi-agent framework. This tech leader will own interconnected systems that are backed up by science components (LLMs). They will require thinking around corners, anticipating the unexpected, synthesizing and executing on technical plans from discordant perspectives, and championing the vision to multiple high-level business owners. This leader will partner with multiple product owners, and other stakeholders to build a scalable solution.

The leader of this space is expected to stay close to the details, balance between Bias for action and Quality without compromising the work-life balance of their team. They are empathetic in leading the team while being Customer Obsessed in driving the right product features for Selling Partners.

Key job responsibilities

Whether you're passionate about building highly scalable and reliable systems or a leader who likes to solve business problems, SPX is the place for you. You get to define and build technology that impacts small, medium, and large businesses that partner with Amazon to provide a wide range of selection for Amazon consumers. You are an experienced development leader who leads a team of software development engineers. You work closely with product management and other business partners to define strategy and requirements, and lead development teams from concept through delivery and subsequent operations. You have regular communication with senior management on status, risks, and product strategy. You have excellent listening and writing skills and very strong technical competency. You're a thought leader, but you don't just know how to solve the problem, you prove it by leading team(s) to build the solution. Last but not least, you have a high bar for code quality and a passion for design and architecture.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
