Description

Ecommerce storage platform provides data storage & computation solutions for eCommerce services to host and manage their data & computation in a cost effective way. Mission critical systems rely of the platform's high performance, throughput, and availability to serve the needs of various customer-facing commerce use cases.

Our team is building a massively scalable, high performance, reliable and cost effective data-centric platform that integrates different storage & caching technologies (tiers) and provides pre-compute, on-demand compute, query and search functionality that is tier-agnostic. Our mission is to enable the business to do interesting things with data at scale and liberate application developers from the burden of managing their storage & compute needs. Our engineers are self-motivated and customer-focused individuals with a good instinct for developing software services with forward looking APIs.

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team to solve complex, challenging problems throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and operations. Your work will directly impact our existing customer base (currently thousands of internal Amazon teams) while extending our solutions to new emerging Amazon businesses. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for a customer obsessed, smart, results oriented manager with a strong distributed systems background and experience delivering high performance client/server architectures that scale. You will be responsible for defining the strategy and roadmap for our technologies as required to deliver on our mission both in the short and long term. You will lead a team of engineers and be for hiring and providing career development for your team.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of experienced software developers to design, develop, deploy, and support key features of the Sable's Storage Plane.

  • Lead the development of the next generation storage plane while supporting the current generation of the storage service.

  • Lead recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and building a positive team culture

  • Connect with customers on a regular basis, build the roadmap for the team, collaborate with the product manager team and other sister teams to execute on new projects,

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
