Amazon Software Development Manager, Promotion Experience in Seattle, Washington

Description

The Promotions Experience team owns the design, planning, delivery of some of the most visible promotion touchpoints across Amazon. We are looking for a seasoned software manager who can help lead the creation of a brand new team with the charter to expand our discounts experience program to ensure that customers are presented with unique and delightful savings opportunities across their retail journey. This is a highly visible role, presenting to senior leaders and navigating cross-organizational boundaries.

Key job responsibilities

As an SDM for the Promotions team, you'll be responsible for building out a brand new team that owns SVP-level goals. You'll be required to work with stakeholders from some of Amazon's core teams (Search, Detail Page, Cart, Checkout) and engage with Principal Engineers and other senior leaders to navigate technical ambiguity. You'll help facilitate the day-to-day development process and engineering operations, guiding and growing the team. You will partner with product management and co-own relationships with the business and supporting teams. You will partner with peer SDMs in driving a unified solution for promotions placement and experiences across the website.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
