Amazon Software Development Manager, OPF, Traffic Engineering in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon’s Traffic Engineering is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager and thought leader to lead OPF teams.

OPF is a reverse proxy to help with migrating rendering frameworks and overtime it turned to become the trusted solution for more than 2400+ Amazon websites to manage the incoming traffic from the public internet to Amazon websites, services and subsidiaries. This includes the Retail and non-retail websites, services like Alexa, Music and other subsidiaries. On average, the OPF processes the scale of 20 trillion requests every month from the internet. You will lead a team of passionate engineers to modernize manage internet connectivity for Amazon SDO's (Stores, Digital and Other) websites in safe and secure manner.

Traffic Engineering is building a next generation internet ingress solution named AERO for SDO/Amazon. As a part of this, you will lead OPF teams to innovate and modernize the stack for AERO platform, and increase Amazon protection from malicious internet attacks whilst serving customers requests. You will also work on making the Amazon website faster by cooperating with your peers teams, business partners and identifying new ways of rendering and serving Amazon product pages.

Your team will build Software, Self-service tools and Automation to simplify managing safe and secure connectivity from Edge to backend for Amazon and customers. There are thousands of software teams in Amazon who use your services to protect (privacy, security and availability) their internet traffic flow and as the leader of this team, you will have a unique opportunity in improving their Customer Experience and work on cutting edge technologies. Your team will use the latest technologies to manage incoming requests from the public internet effectively and to modernize OPF & build a new stack.

About the team

OPF owns a large distributed platform that enables the Stores, Digital and Other (SDO) organization (Retail, Amazon Video, Kindle, Amazon Subsidiaries and more) to accelerate innovation and delivery in the Cloud.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
