ASBX has a mission to make Amazon the best place to be a software builder. It was established in 2022 bringing together existing and new teams with a focus on modernizing processes and tools.

Utility Computing (UC)

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities

• Own the customer intake, planning, development, release, and operations of web sites and tools that support the software development lifecycle

• Create longer-term visions and roadmaps for your team and to inform the broader organizational goals

• Collaborate with other managers, UX designers, product managers, and UX researchers to help create customer-obsessed solutions by sharing your insights

• Be a strategic partner by becoming a domain expert within the software builder experience

• Be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity.

About the team

The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) organization has a mission of creating the world’s best builder experience across tens of thousands of software engineers, and all Amazon businesses (e.g., AWS, Amazon Stores, etc.). Our Builder Tools team in ASBX owns the software development tools Amazon software teams use to develop, release, and manage their software. This role is for you if you’re passionate about software development, development tools, and having world-wide impact across all of Amazon! In addition to delivering results, we also appreciate establishing a work-life-balance, having fun with our co-workers, and supporting an inclusive and collaborative team environment.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience

• 7+ years of engineering experience

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

• Experience in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

• Experience building web applications with React and modern web technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
