Amazon's Finance Technology organization (FinTech) builds and maintains the finance technology platforms and services that enable new business growth, compliance with financial and tax reporting obligations, and analysis of our financial data. Through our products, we aim to maximize time spent by Finance teams on high value analysis, reduce the growth of operating expenses, and improve the vendor experience.

This role will focus on General Ledger space, which builds and maintain technologies to account and post millions of financial events that we process daily for accurate internal and external financial reporting. We process on avg. 371 MM transactions per month and are growing 50% YOY.We are building systems that service the accounting needs of accounting , tax and finance team worldwide and strive to automate transactions creation and journal posting to General Ledger to meet critical close timelines. We are launching next-gen accounting product FERA - A Foreign Exchange and Re-measurement Automation product , a scalable solution that will be one-stop solution for on Foreign Exchange needs for whole of Amazon . It is multi-year challenge and we are looking for L6 SDM to lead a team with the technical chops to revolutionize general ledger well beyond what any tier 1 ERPs can do today.

You will ensure that engineering best practices are followed and that software is designed to be highly-available, dynamically scalable, and resilient to continuity threats.

As a technology leader, you will drive architectural and design choices and invent new features. Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and own product vision, strategy and roadmap.

  • Build and manage a team of software engineers.

  • Execute projects within an Agile/Scrum environment

  • Participate in business reviews with executive leadership and provide status updates.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
