Amazon's Finance Technology organization (FinTech) builds and maintains the finance technology applications that enable new business growth, compliance with financial and tax reporting obligations, and analysis of our financial data. Through our products, we aim to maximize time spent by Finance teams on high value analysis, reduce the growth of operating expenses, and improve the vendor experience.

This role will focus on General Ledger Accounting space, which builds and operates technologies to account and post millions of financial events that we process daily for accurate internal and external financial reporting. We process on avg. 371 MM+ transactions per month. Our systems service the accounting needs of Finance , Accounting , and Tax teams worldwide and strive to automate transactions creation and journal posting to General Ledger to meet critical close timelines.

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a talented team in the delivery of a strategic, high-impact, and highly confidential software project in the General Ledger Accounting space. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a mission-critical initiative with significant organizational visibility and impact.

As the Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for assembling and managing a skilled cross-functional team to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge software solutions. This will involve collaborating closely with stakeholders, business analysts, and technical architects to understand requirements, define the technical roadmap, and drive the end-to-end software development lifecycle.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the team to Design, Develop, Deliver and Operate secure, reliable and scalable solutions for customer features as well as internal operational improvements.

  • Mentor and Manage the growth for a team of 6-8 engineers.

  • Establish a close partnership with a dedicated product team who have established a bold vision for application streaming solutions.

  • Collaborate and Work across team boundaries with other domains and services within Finance Technology and help deliver on business priorities by showing high bar of ownership, earn trust and deliver results .

  • Work in a fast-paced, self-starting culture oriented toward building proof-of-concept and innovative solutions quickly.

  • Manage a minimum of tech debt.

  • Ensure an emphasis on controllership and compliance continues to earn and preserve customer trust.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
