Description

The Shopping Conversation Foundations team is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team that is pushing the boundaries of Spoken Language Understanding and Speech recognition. Your team will be designing and building highly scaled ML systems and deploying LLMs for offline and online inference.

As a senior leader on the team, you will be tasked with solving complex technology problems in a fast-paced agile environment, constantly learning and adapting to rapidly evolving customer needs. You will have the support of a dedicated Science team and the freedom and encouragement to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers.

You will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the wider team. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon. Key job responsibilities

  • Manage team of engineers to design and build a state of the art ML Operations solution

  • Manage engineering teams building model release pipelines in tight integration with ML Scientists

  • Create the long-term vision, structure and yearly goals for the team

  • Partner with AGI science and engineering teams on ASR capabilities

  • Partner with key stakeholders in Shopping and Voice on Amazon App

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
