We are actively seeking a Software Development Manager (SDM) in the Quality, Technology and Strategy (QTS) organization within Global Robotics Delivery. You will be joining the Robotics Software Solutions (ROSS) team. ROSS team builds software services and tools to unlock the potential of robotics design-to-delivery value chain, manufacturing, new product introductions, and supply chain through automation and information centralization – by allowing Operations to analyze, predict trends, and detect device failures with a minimal data lift and code reusability. We directly work with customers and participate in defining the north star for pivotal products to drive supply chain planning for the entire Amazon Robotics products, resource allocation and operational planning productivity products and manufacturing movement softwares.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Lead and Mentor a Talented Team: You will manage and mentor a cross-functional team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Your leadership skills will be pivotal in guiding the team through complex challenges and ensuring their professional growth.

  2. Drive Technical Vision and Strategy: As the SDM, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical vision and strategy for the team. You will work closely with stakeholders, product managers, peer SDMs and Senior engineers to align your roadmap with business objectives.

  3. Full-Stack Development Expertise: You will leverage your full-stack development experience to oversee the entire lifecycle of feature deliverables and influence the tech stack and testing strategy. Your hands-on expertise will be invaluable in guiding the team's technical decisions and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

  4. Agile Methodologies and DevOps Practices: You will champion agile methodologies and DevOps practices within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automated testing, operational excellence and efficient software delivery and release.

  5. Collaboration and Communication: You will communicate with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
