Amazon Software Development Manager, Amazon Compensation Technology in Seattle, Washington

Description

Would you like to lead a team building one of the most complex employee systems in the world? The Amazon Compensation Technology team is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Software Development Manager to join our growing organization.

We are building new software products and large-scale distributed systems to manage the compensation experience for Amazon's rapidly growing workforce. We are empowered to think big at Amazon, and the Compensation Technology team is doing just that. Where third-party products don't scale to meet our needs, we build our own solutions that provide the scalability and flexibility we require. We leverage the latest AWS technologies like Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Redshift, and S3 to build highly scalable solutions.

Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivering large-scale solutions. You will guide your team through all aspects of the agile software development lifecycle, including design, architecture, development, documentation, testing, and operations. You will push your team to own solutions end-to-end, through full-stack software development.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
