Amazon Web Services Software Development Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Description

Job summary

EC2, a part of Amazon Web Services, is a fast-growing business within Amazon that provides cost effective easy-to-use cloud computing resources to businesses of all sizes around the world. With AWS, you can requisition compute power, storage, databases, and many other services, paying as you go for only the resources you need.

Are you interested in working on products, and solving truly innovative problems that are disrupting the cloud-computing industry? Do you like working on products that are providing real value to AWS customers? If so, come join us as we help define the future of cloud computing.

We are the EC2 Audax Team. We're responsible for the T (burstable) instance families. We develop the software that ensures customer instances have access to the CPU cycles they need, when they need them, while minimizing the cost of wasted CPU capacity. As we improve the T instance types, we'll support more customer workloads, driving down costs and adding value for customers.

We're looking for experienced engineers who can help turn product goals into concrete project plans, work with teammates to execute on those plans, and deploy them for customers to use with confidence. A Senior Software Development Engineer participates in design, design review, code review, and implementation of software projects.

Work/Life Balance

This is a full-time position, but we're flexible with team members who need to modify their hours. Our regular meetings are generally scheduled between 10am and 4pm.

On-Call Responsibility

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are well tested. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

We care about your career growth. We try to assign projects and tasks based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
