Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Weblab WeX in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon Weblab is at the heart of billions of dollars in product decisions. Your favorite feature on the Amazon.com website or our iOS and Android apps was probably tested and launched using Weblab. Teams including Amazon Music, Prime Video, and Alexa use Weblab every day to change how the world shops, sells, reads, learns, and plays.

We are seeking a skilled and creative software engineer to help shape the future of Amazon's customer, vendor, seller, and partner experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will leverage your knowledge and passion for mobile solutions to design and innovate on fault-tolerant, high-traffic systems that enable experimentation at Amazon. Our architectures handle trillions of requests a day!

You will use technologies such as xCode, Android Studio, Swift and Kotlin in the IOS and Android spaces to deliver SDKs that not only provide innovative solutions at the scale of Weblab, but also leverage your mobile expertise to ensure our solutions meet low the latency and small footprint expectations of our customers.

You will influence and participate in the building of mobile cross-platform solutions in Rust and integrating with AWS technologies.

ABOUT THE TEAM

We are an engineering-centric team with relentlessly high standards with engineers directly influencing our product roadmap. Weblab relies on its engineers to own and drive its many complex projects. We grow careers by combining broad ownership opportunities with technical innovation and support from senior engineers and managers.

You would join a team of dependable and trustworthy teammates. We foster a culture where teammates can work openly together, even when working remotely from each other. We learn from one another and challenge ourselves to continuously raise the bar.

ABOUT YOU

You enjoy getting computers to make intelligent decisions in the face of real-world noisy data. You want to create, design, build and contribute to architectural decisions that matter.

You have an entrepreneurial spirit and want to make a big impact on Amazon and its customers. You are excited about solving how experimentation is managed and vended to all of Amazon safely. You enjoy building massive-scale and high-performance systems, with a bias for delivering simple solutions to complex problems. You're a thought leader, able to deliver big solutions, as well as big ideas. You think boldly, and challenge yourself and others to build and design better. You prefer strong working relationships and thrive on collaboration with your teammates and other stakeholders.

A few problems we'll be working on:

  • Innovating to provide new A/B comparison functionality for mobile systems

  • Adding support for Weblab at the edge

  • New features to improve the safety of launches using Weblab

  • Using the Rust programming language to create systems level functionality that spans mobile, backend and desktop services

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • 1+ years of Android development experience

  • 1+ years of Apple platform development experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
