Software Development Engineer 2, Selling Partner Developer Services

Selling Partner Services (SPS) is one of Amazon’s fastest growing business with more than 50% of all items currently sold originating from third-party Selling Partners. Our vision is to offer a secure world-class Customer experience that enables SPS and third-party Developers to innovate rapidly on behalf of millions of Selling Partners around the world to run their business on Amazon. Selling Partner Services Health (SPH) team is seeking a self-driven SDE who will eliminate low judgement customer touch points, prevent defects and enable risk detections at scale by building workflow and automated risk signal monitoring systems. We are developing and operating distributed systems at unprecedented scale leveraging AWS technologies to deploy high-quality solutions into a cloud based architecture. You will build systems that helps Developers to create, list and monitor their applications in Amazon Seller Central Appstore that is leveraged by thousands of Sellers to automate and scale their selling business at Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

You are a significant and autonomous contributor. Your work is consistently of high quality. You solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices. You work with your team to invent, design and build software that is stable and performant. You are proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when it is appropriate to use them. You do things with the proper level of complexity the first time (or at least minimize incidental complexity). You create flexible software without over-engineering. You make appropriate trade-offs, re-use where possible, and are judicious about introducing dependencies.

You work on project ideas with customers, stakeholders, and peers. You help balance customer requirements with team requirements. You help your team evolve by actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, team planning, and ticket/metric/COE reviews. You focus on operational excellence, constructively identifying problems and proposing solutions. You work to resolve the root cause of complex problems, leaving software better and easier to maintain than when you found it. You are able to train new team-mates on how your team’s software is constructed, how it operates, how secure it is, and how it fits into the bigger picture.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
