Job summaryWould you like to be part of a team that is solving new & disruptive business challenges using leading edge AWS technologies?The vision for the DSX team is to provide a one-stop shop that will allow the authoring, scheduling and management of all signage (Printed and Digital) across all Amazon programs and ultimately be made available as an offering to 3P customers. We will do this by leveraging the convergence of signage management with the Amazon Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) program. We will create a single point of control that will allow self-service template authoring, sign inventory management, scheduling and content delivery to various signage sub-systems (ESL, Amazon Digital Signs, 3rd Party Digital Signs, 3rd Party Batched/Printed signs, etc.). By designing a modular architecture and by abstracting content delivery (publishing) from the content authoring and management elements, we can achieve our vision while also setting us up to scale and extend to new systems and future store formatsThe ideal candidate is excited by technology, passionate about learning and will embrace the Amazon Principle of working backwards from the customer. We work in a highly collaborative environment that is more startup than big company.The Role: As a Software Development Engineer in Physical Store Tech, you will work in a team of talented engineers to build full stack solutions for an exciting new project utilizing Java and AWS technologies. You will have the opportunity to identify and evaluate new technology options for the challenges we are trying to solve. We are looking for a creative engineer who can effectively deal with ambiguity and work independently to clarify requirements, build prototypes and deliver results quickly. You will learn a ton, have fun and make a positive impact on millions of people.1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.2+ years of non-internship professional software development experienceProgramming experience with at least one software programming language.Programming experience in Java, C++, or other object-oriented languages. Familiarity with one or more of: Python, Perl, PHP.Expertise in data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.Experience taking a lead role developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers.Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs and product strategy.Industry experience building highly available, distributed servicesComputer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysisKnowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsExperience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their abilities in all aspects of their engineering skill-setsExcellent oral and written communication skillsMeets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this roleMeets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this roleAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
