Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Application Security Development in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon Security is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to help realize the technical vision for security-focused, builder tooling, as part of Amazon's continued mission to shift security left. This team builds and operates full-stack services and web applications providing builders the ability to design and threat model secure software for customers. The products built by this team are used across all of Amazon's organizations and teams, giving you the unique opportunity to have company-wide influence and impact. In this role, you will design and drive the development of scalable software systems and services, enabling the design, threat modeling, and security review of software and hardware systems built at Amazon Additionally, you will have the unique opportunity to partner closely with business and security teams and directly influence the software design process relied on by builders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Architect and develop full stack with both scalable backend services and interactive web applications.

  • Implement robust APIs and user experiences used directly by customers and integrated with by other software teams.

  • Design for high availability, scalability, extensibility, and resiliency in the context of tools, services, and processes managed in AWS.

  • Evangelize software best practices and drive improvements to our customer products as user expectations evolve.

  • Collaborate with security and business teams to translate requirements into powerful technical solutions on behalf of customers.

  • Mentor other engineers on the team and promote best practices through software design, development, testing, operational excellence, and security.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Bachelors Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software solutions for security applications.

  • Demonstrated ability in delivering solutions using AWS products, such as DynamoDB, S3, SQS/SNS, Lambda, Elastic Search & EC2.

  • Experience building mobile or web frontends and applications, using React or React Native, or comparable front-end technologies.

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

  • Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective and productive software engineers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
