We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to build tools and products that improve the security, scale, and speed of Games, Media, and Entertainment. You will design and build systems that enable our services, applications, and websites to operate at the highest security standards. Amazon has a peculiar approach to building systems that strongly favors build versus buy, and uses our scale and internal tools to build products that are not possible for other companies. The Security Engineering team focuses on automated mechanisms through building security tools, such as vulnerability scanners, compliance monitoring and reporting tools, campaign automation, threat intelligence platforms, and incident response systems, to streamline workflows and improve our overall security posture. You will have the opportunity to learn from, and be mentored by, those who are building and securing our cutting-edge services. You are also expected to mentor more junior engineers and be a technical thought leader for the organization.

A Software Development Engineer must foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with discordant views. Engineers in this role are expected to participate fully in the planning of the our team's work and constantly seek opportunities for process improvement. They should also have a deep understanding of how to apply software engineering principles to complex problems at scale. Security tool and product development experience is a bonus.

You will have the combination of troubleshooting, technical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle a mix of disparate tasks which may include project and software development work. This role will provide career growth opportunities as you gain new skills in the course of your duties.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
