The Accounting Intelligence Services ("AIS") team is looking for an SDE to join an exciting undertaking that leverages AI & ML to solve challenging business problems for Amazon's Finance organization.

Whether you buy something from amazon.com or watch a show on Amazon Prime, any of these business transactions get converted into multiple financial events. Our teams in FinTech use these events to produce insights for Finance and Accounting teams to make business decisions, close financial ledgers, and perform reporting to Amazon shareholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineer. In this position, you play a major role in the architecture, design, implementation, and deployment of applications. You will push your design and architecture limits by inventing and simplifying complex problems. You utilize strong verbal and written communication skills, are self-driven, and can deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. An engineer in this role works with Amazon engineering and business teams across the globe in planning, designing, executing, and implementing new capabilities for the product.

Key job responsibilities

• Work with AWS services such as Elasticsearch, EMR/Spark, Glue, Dynamo DB, Athena, Airflow, S3, EC2, Cloudwatch, and supporting AWS services

• Develop and maintain back end Rest API services written in Java, Python, and Scala

• Develop and maintain front end UIs that use Javascript, React, and Typescript

• Work with product manager and customers to design, code, test, deploy, and maintain new features based on product requirements

• Support peers with design review feedback, code reviews, and issue troubleshooting

• Drive operational excellence improvements and best practices that support 99%+ product availability and error free operation for our customers

• Provide on call support once every seven weeks

• Own the entire software lifecycle, from system design to implementation, release, operation, and continuous, iterative improvement

• Work on every layer of a full stack system, from interaction with core AWS services to API design and implementation, to designing and building user interfaces

• Interface with internal finance customers WW as well as major system owners to drive implementation of new features and new capabilities

• Work with a team of highly collaborative engineers who care about each other

About the team

The Accounting Intelligence Service ("AIS") team leverages AI and ML to enhance finance technology products by improving accuracy and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
