Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

We're looking for a Director of Software Development with expertise and passion for solving difficult problems in global distributed systems, reliability engineering, and improving operational posture, all while delivering new functionality to our customers. The Virtual Cloud Networking team builds distributed services that handle planning, provisioning, life cycle management and security of our customers' network infrastructure. As a Director of Software Development, you will lead VCN's Control Plane Organization within the Virtual Networking organization.

You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

You will be responsible for :

· Growing and developing an organization of hardworking and motivated engineers while establishing high expectations around individual ownership and impact

· Ensuring your organization delivers extraordinary output and continuously seeks ways to make an increased impact across the Virtual Networking services.

· Setting direction for the organization, anticipate strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning, and in overall business objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of management experience in enterprise/cloud/embedded software

  • 5+ years of experience with applications/embedded development

  • 1+ years in large scale distributed applications or 2+ years in networking

  • Bachelors in computer science and Engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Proficient at programming in C/C+- Previously managed a platform team responsible for builds, testing & automation

  • Experience with Agile, Jira & Confluence

  • Experience with CICD, & Ops

  • Embedded system experience

  • Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
