Job Description: Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Develop valuation features on our web application. Develop web features in React JS with the ability to interact with APIs. Develop server-side code in the Java Spring framework. Write PostgreSQL database queries and stored procedures in SQL. Engineer machine learning models on our ML platform. Build machine learning models to run on Airflow and AWS Sagemaker. Deploy models on AWS using our Lambda & API Gateway framework. Contribute to platform application isolation efforts. Identify candidates for microservice extraction within our monolith application. Develop technical specifications and extract isolated services to run on our AWS container-based deployment farm. Act as an integrated team member on our team. Attend daily and weekly sprint rituals and contribute to planning, estimation and retrospectives. Provide quality engineering practices and design methodologies. Understand the big picture and contribute to cross team efforts within Engineering. Contribute to cross engineering working groups developing new tooling to further the broader Redfin ecosystem. Understand the negative impact of technical debt and takes on leadership opportunities within the group to identify, strategize and tackle issues to maintain an efficient platform and codebase. The position requires a Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or in related field and 6 months of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Employer will accept coursework, internships and/or school projects that document knowledge of required skills in lieu of 6 months of work experience.
Special Requirements: Position requires background, education, or experience in each of the following skills:
- Front End Web Development with React JS;
- SQL Database Querying experience identifying bottlenecks in an AB experimentation platform and allowing for faster processing;
- Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) assisting with scrum, and leading daily standup meetings and sprint planning sessions;
- Experience with AWS Cloud Development designing next-gen architectures that select the right cloud technology and scale platforms efficiently;
- Experience with Back End Web Development with Java Spring to develop appropriately scoped isolated microservices;
- Big Data platforms to process mass amounts of traffic in order to understand how customers use platforms and report results to stakeholders, including: Hive and Hadoop;
- Operational monitoring platforms, including: ELK, New Relic, Grafana, OpsGenie, or CloudWatch;
- Software Development experience with Product Specifications developing and communicating technical designs through product delivery.
