Amazon Software Dev Engineer II, Next Gen Developer Experience in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are looking for a software development engineer for the Next Generation Developer Experience team. Our mission is broad and (deliberately) ambiguous. GenAI is going to help builders create faster, cheaper, more secure, and more reliable applications. GenAI will open the door for other kinds of builders, of all different backgrounds, to build with the power of AWS. We believe every facet of cloud development is changing, and our goal is to invent and drive this change for our current and future builders. This team provides unique opportunity to work closely with scientists to work on cutting edge GenAI and other AI/ML techniques and take new models to production.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of innovative software solutions to transform service performance, availability, cost, and security.

  • Use Java/Java based frameworks and software engineering best practices to ensure the standard of quality of all team deliverables.

  • Write high quality distributed system software.

  • Work closely with scientists to take new models to production

  • Build infrastructure for at scale data collection and bench-marking of our models.

  • Work in an agile development environment, where you are always working on the most important stuff. * Mentor junior software development engineers

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer in this role will be responsible for designing high scale systems, upholding best practices and quality standards, delivering high quality engineering solutions and code. You will work daily with Senior Engineers and Scientists to deliver new innovative solutions to the market.

About the team

Team is building new tools and services using GenAI Large Language models. You will have an opportunity work closely with scientists on model deployment, tuning cutting edge Large Language models and prompt engineering.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
