We are seeking Software Development Engineers excited by the opportunity to work with multiple Amazon platforms and leverage data science to experiment bold new initiatives.

Key job responsibilities

As a technical member of the engineering team based out of Seattle, you'll play a key role in the evolution of the platform to solve the most complex technical challenges in large-scale computing, distributed systems and web applications. The platforms you build will power global marketplaces of tomorrow.

As a seasoned software engineer on the team you will be instrumental in setting the technical direction of this strategic initiative, help with mentoring other members on the team and design solutions that integrate with critical Amazon services. This is a multi-year strategic initiative with direct impact on a multi-billion dollar business in Amazon’s fastest growing e-commerce marketplace.

Design, implementation, and deployment of applications and services that impact the business with an emphasis on Fulfillment, and e-Commerce website development.

Expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.

Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions

Work extensively with cross-functional teams across Amazon’s website, e-commerce and fulfillment platform on the design and development of core platform functionality

Work with the business team and project managers to convert functional requirements into detailed technical specifications.

Work with engineers both onsite and offsite to define technical tasks and build detailed implementation plans.

Participate in and provide design inputs towards the Platform initiative for streamlining international expansions.

The ideal candidate will be a leader, builder and operator. He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The leader needs to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.

About the team

You will be part of a key Delivery Experience initiative – “Easyship” which enables 3P sellers to ship products with Amazon. Amazon Easy Ship program caters to merchant fulfillment network sellers in India with the goal of making it easy for sellers to ship products bought on Amazon.in website. Orders are picked up from the seller’s location by an Amazon Logistics associate and delivered to the buyers’ location with minimal effort from sellers. Customers get faster and predictable delivery along with tracking information. We own the platform that drive the above experience across desktop, mobile and APIs (for large sellers).

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
