Description

AWS Industrial IoT (IIoT) brings machines, cloud computing, analytics, and people together to improve the performance and productivity of industrial processes. Implementing IIoT allows industrial firms to digitalize operations, revolutionize businesses, and improve efficiency and output, all while minimizing waste. In industries like manufacturing, energy, agriculture, transportation, and utilities, asset-intensive companies are engaged in IoT projects that connect billions of devices and offer value through use cases like predictive quality and maintenance analytics.

AWS is seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher for Industrial IoT (IIoT) to help us better understand our customers' needs and collaborate with the cross-functional team to build a cohesive experience for operational and IT end users in manufacturing organizations. The intended audience for this work comprises partners, developer communities, and end users. This is a highly innovative space where empowering industrial end-users is a core strategic focus for 2024 and beyond. The IIoT cross-functional team prioritizes customer and end-user understanding through persona and user journey analysis. This Senior UX Researcher will provide generative (foundational) and evaluative research insights to the AWS IIoT product and UX Design teams. This position will help the AWS IIoT team uncover and explain how customers and end-users improve the performance and productivity of industrial processes - and why they do what they do. In this UX Research role, you will uncover the key jobs-to-be-done (JTBD) in our customers' journeys for operating their AWS IIoT cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with UX Designers and product leadership to determine and prioritize the customer and end-user problems to solve at various stages of IIoT cloud maturity.

Key job responsibilities

The Senior UX Researcher will identify opportunities for innovation and refine how customers use AWS IIoT products and solutions. In this role you will execute strategic research. You will work collaboratively with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to understand opportunities and customer connections for the IIoT product and engineering teams. You will use your deep understanding of human-centered research methods and human factors best practices to uncover customer insights that help drive tactical and strategic impact across the organization.

In addition, you will:

  • Identify best human-centered research methods (quantitative and qualitative) to answer question on our users based on research questions, timeline, and resourcing.

  • Define and execute a comprehensive research roadmap; communicate and refresh on regular basis to ensure relevancy.

  • Gather and analyze human performance, behavioral, and interaction/usage data to test product and UX design hypotheses, derive recommendations for design and actions, and validate human error probabilities.

  • Create a deep understanding and empathy for our customers across diverse audiences, including designers, PMs, engineers, and business leaders.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize research questions based on analysis of current knowledge, project goals and risks.

  • Build and continuously improve a robust and thoughtful approach to gather human factors and product design insights.
