The UW Finance Transformation Program (UWFT) is a $200M initiative to replace the University’s financial systems with an integrated system to manage the full suite of financial transactions and reporting needs in the UW system – to include academic, administrative, and healthcare. UWFT will fundamentally change the processes and tools that the University employs to track, spend, collect, manage, and report University finances in excess of $7B in annual revenues, resulting in more timely and actionable information for leadership. Among the UW’s highest administrative priorities, this multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington State and the outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the University and the state. The UWFT Program is seeking an experienced Workday Senior Testing Manager with successful End-to-End medium to large ERP implementation testing experience, and relevant background in Workday Financial Module implementations. As the Workday Testing Manager, you will lead and coordinate across the Academy and Medicine organizations the development of key project deliverables for Workday implementations such as: Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test metrics and reporting, and Test Scenarios while driving client engagement. This individual exemplifies the skills of a leader, manager, & mentor, and thrives on accomplishing the stakeholders’ needs. The constituency of UWFT, and therefore that of this position, is the entire University, including all campuses. This position will directly affect the success of the UW Finance Transformation program, which depends on the coordination and delivery of deliverables from all program pillars. This leadership position requires the ability to lead and influence across testing teams and resources to coordinate and execute on a defined strategy and implementation approach. As such, the Senior Testing Manager for UWFT must establish close working relationships with the team members, subject matter experts, stakeholders and other team resources assigned to the project in order to be able to achieve success for the program. The University is implementing an enterprise-wide, multi-year initiative to replace the existing financial systems with a modern, integrated system that will provide functionality to support financial business needs. It also will provide a set of standardized processes to significantly improve support for critical financial work across the university. Finance Transformation program is one of the highest profile projects at the university, and is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington State. The outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the university and the state. RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Planning

  • Own the Enterprise direction for UWFT Testing Strategy.

  • Oversees the decisions and direction of testing plans across matrixed testing teams.

  • In collaboration with Enterprise PMO Director, Program Executive Director, program governance members, establish testing criteria for success of go/no go criteria.

  • Negotiate solutions to complex problems, interfacing with UW Executive leadership across multiple disciplines and levels of authority (i.e. collaboration with key partners, engagement model development and implementation, etc.)

  • Develop strategies to improve business workflows/operations to drive towards efficiency and programmatic success.

  • Delivers Executive program level reporting and metrics to track testing progress by establishing tools and repositories for storage by maintaining project schedule in Smartsheet. Leadership and Program Management

  • Manage, delegate, and prioritize the workload for direct staff (3+) as well as with matrixed Testing PM resources (50+).

  • Partner with program senior leadership pillars to build testing timelines and strategies that meet the swiftly evolving needs of the program; ensure plans are built to be flexible and dynamic.

  • Supervise Enterprise PMO testing staff to continuously design, deliver, and optimize internal program processes, procedures, metrics, infrastructure, and communications, enabling efficient program practices to support program tasks and milestones.

  • Directly manages employees who will track issues and risks (via Jira), communicate status, and escalate concerns appropriately, while working with the project team and leaders to identify/resolve all issues that could impact project scope and/or timeframes.

  • Obtain any Workday mandatory performance testing to include intesting strategy and execution.

  • Work with Workday’s Delivery Assurance to ensure compliance with checkpoints. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Six years' professional experience in training, mentoring and guiding others.

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree.

  • In-depth knowledge of formal Testing Methodologies.

  • Experience leading and participating in functional analysis that informs technical testing decisions. Able to demonstrate an ability to provide test estimates and manage delivery to an approved budget.

  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the test phase life cycle, the principles of testing including Test and Defect Management.

  • Experience leading project teams in preparation, planning, and execution of Testing involving medium to large scale ERP systems prior to an implementation. ISTQB Certification a plus.

  • Excellent communication and client--facing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on an Agile team. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED:

  • Previous Workday experience strongly preferred, but not required.

  • Experience with Agile testing methodologies, ETL Testing and data quality.

  • ISTQB Certification a plus.

  • Experience in a large university or other large complex enterprise.

  • Experience representing and/or leading system development and implementation efforts across a large, decentralized enterprise.

  • Familiarity with financial, accounting, and supply chain systems, particularly Workday. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work is open to 100% remote as well as hybrid or in-person (in an open office environment). This position on the Finance Transformation Project is temporarily funded; continued employment is contingent on ongoing funding and performance.
