Job Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the Association, providing senior-level accounting expertise and support. This position manages the month-end closing process, maintains the general ledger, performs account reconciliations, oversees revenue from software system integrations, and assists with key sections of external audits. The Senior Accountant collaborates with the Finance Team on monthly financial reporting and the annual budget process, ensuring compliance with GAAP in various business situations.

Hiring Range: $85,000 - $96,000 annually
Responsibilities
Month-End and Year-End Closing:
Manage the month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
Oversee and maintain the month-end checklist and calendar for the accounting and finance teams.
Review and approve journal entries.
Conduct pre-close meetings with the CFO and Controller.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Ensure the general ledger and segment organization structure are current in the accounting and budgeting software systems.
Work closely with the BI and Finance teams to ensure financial tools, including Power BI, remain balanced and aligned via automated integrations.
Financial Statement Production:
Ensure timely and accurate production and distribution of financial statements.
Review variances to budget and forecast prior to financial statement publication.
Budget and Forecasting:
Participate in the annual budget and forecasting processes.
Create allocation schedules and serve as an expert liaison between the Finance and Accounting teams.
Revenue System Management:
Oversee operational revenue system write-offs, chargebacks, and outstanding balances management.
Serve as a project team member on revenue software system conversions.
Audit Support:
Assist with sections of the annual audit, including external financial statement preparation and select audit schedules.
Tax Return Preparation:
Prepare assigned sections of the annual 990 federal tax return.
Prepare other tax returns, including unclaimed property and property taxes, as assigned.
Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise accounting staff as assigned.
Serve as the main secondary point of contact for the Accounting Help email box.
Policy and Procedure Maintenance:
Maintain policies and procedures for financial areas and other assigned tasks.
Support the finance team with budget and forecasting processes.
Additional Duties:
Assist with Y-USA annual reporting, annual filings with Washington State, and bond compliance reporting support.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position with an anticipated schedule of 8am to 5pm. The incumbent will be expected to have the ability to work extended hours during peak periods, such as month-ed and year-end closing.
Work Environment
We are currently working on a hybrid model working 2-3 days in person. The HR Coordinator role will require working at our Association Office located in Downtown Seattle as well as potentially commuting to our other centers/program sites.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial tools (e.g., NetSuite, Power BI).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Experience with staff management and development.
