Boeing is looking for an Experienced Software Test Engineer based out of Seattle, Washington.

The ONS (Onboard Network Systems) team is looking for a Software Test Engineer to test Software Requirements for future releases. ONS software manages onboard networks, off-board communication, LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) data load, file storage, third party developed software, and a whole host of additional features that airline customers rely on.

Software Test Engineers will work in multi-disciplinary teams with Software Engineers, System Engineers, business leaders, and airline customers to design and build new ONS platform features. The ONS platform software uses a number of technologies and the team is in need of Systems Engineers with a wide variety of System Engineering skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads and coordinates writing of test plans and test scripts to test software requirements for both the front end and back end of the ONS.

  • Leads work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet functional requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

  • Validate requirements and designs through laboratory testing

  • Troubleshooting complex systems issues in the lab

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics

  • 4+ years experience testing software requirements

  • 3+ years writing test plans/test cases

  • 3+ years validating system/software requirements

  • 3+ years knowledge of multi system integrations

  • 2+ years knowledge of network protocols, routing table definitions, and network architecture definition

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of JIRA

  • Knowledge of ClearQuest

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience with airplane communication protocols

  • Experience testing client/server architecture

  • 1+ DOORS experience

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
