Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Seattle, Washington

The mission of Microsoft Digital Employee Experience is to power, protect, and transform the employee experience at Microsoft, as the voice of our digital transition in the market.

As part of Microsoft’s Experiences & Devices (E+D), Data Platform & Growth (DPG), we are responsible for defining the vision for the employee experience, we partner with product engineering teams to deliver employee solutions, we run Microsoft’s internal network and infrastructure, and engineers HR and CELA internal business applications. The team is also on the frontline for campus modernization plans, thinking through both physical and virtual spaces to create inspiring and productive hybrid experiences. Through this work, Microsoft Digital Employee Experience team creates a blueprint for customers and partners as we support them through their own digital transformation.

We have a huge responsibility to manage the Microsoft enterprise network which is the backbone of the company across all our building assets worldwide and employee digital experiences. We are modernizing all aspects of the business in how we manage these critical resources that make our company run. Our goal is to decompose complexity in the various business domains, processes, and services, leveraging a cloud based modern microservices architecture built through listening to our customers, learning from industry trends and leveraging the best of Microsoft first party solutions. Software engineers work alongside network domain experts to produce modern, scalable, resilient, and extensible products that will revolutionize how networks are understood, maintained, and observed.

As a Software Engineer, you will be working alongside our cloud network domain experts and together decompose, modernize, redesign, and bring about new opportunities to unlock traditional monolithic tools and services that have been done using legacy technologies, methods, and techniques. As a Senior Software Engineer, a typical day might include:

  • Meeting with internal customers to understand feature requirements.

  • Lead efforts to validate solution architecture, identifying critical design areas early in the development process, and lead with secure, test-driven practices.

  • Using expertise to design and develop large scale distributed software services and solutions.

  • Collaborating with team members to come up with new ways to solve old problems.

  • Driving modern software engineering practices through code and design reviews.

Experiences you bring to our organization (qualifications):

Required :

  • 5+ years of experience with C# in the Azure cloud platform, building microservices.

  • 5+ years developing APIs with contracts supporting Open Api standards

  • An ability to lead and influence others, while managing your workload and self-prioritizing in an Agile fashion.

  • The people skills to work cross-functionally with engineers, software developers, and leadership.

  • 5+ years of experience using DevOps tools and processes.

  • Proven ability for being a change agent and driving innovation for engineering excellence.

Preferred :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.

  • Propose end to end integration designs, and distributed transaction strategies for upstream and downstream dependencies.

  • Mentor, peer program and train other developers on complex patterns, code strategies, and business process flows.
