The Department of Cultivate Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Software Development Project Manager to join their team. POSITION PURPOSE The Software Development Project Manager candidate will have a strong background in software development planning and team coordination. You will play a crucial role in planning the team’s tasks for the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions that will support Cultivate Learning, a Center with the College of Education, and their education web applications.

The person in this position will play a key role in growing the Center’s technology structures, including security and cost structures, and will support the overall Cultivate Learning mission, aligned with UW policies and best practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Team management

  • In collaboration with the Software Development Technical Project Manager, define and allocate tasks to the members other the software development team.

  • Using current industry standard tools (Jira, Confluence, Slack, MS Teams, etc.) maintain timelines and workflows for team members to facilitate timely completion of software projects.

  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and software developers to work out technical requirements from content requests.Project Planning

  • In collaboration with the Software Development Technical Project Manager, plan software projects by meeting with stakeholders and helping to define goals, scopes, budgets and specifications for all software developed by this team.

  • Document requirements and other source documents on all associated projects.Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with content and leadership teams to keep everyone informed about software development progress.

  • Work closely with development teams to support application deployment and troubleshoot issues related to infrastructure and applications.

  • Stay current on the latest security protocol trends, issues, and advances in information technology. Learn about new technologies as required.

  • Work with the Cultivate Learning’s leadership team and the College’s fiscal team to answer questions related to vendor and software costs to inform accurate billing and budget development.Project Archival Maintenance

  • In collaboration with the software development team, help create and archive documentation relevant to the software development and maintenance of the Center’s technology structures.Monitoring and Optimization

  • Ensure policy and procedure compliance with the wider UW security policies.

  • Coordinate with UW and College of Education IT as needed to adhere with UW policy and practices.

  • Incident Management: Respond to and delegate responses to incidents.

  • Respond to problems or emergency situations that may occur during scheduled or non-scheduled work hours by making sure the appropriate teams are alerted. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Four years of experience in a Software Development Project Manager role. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong experience with Atlassian Suite tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Strong familiarity of Agile methodologies.

  • Working familiarity of common web server architectures (Linux stacks, NGINX, Apache, etc.).

  • Working familiarity of networking architectures (DNS, VPN’s, Cloud services, firewalls, etc.).

  • Working familiarity of common web programming languages and protocols (Python, React, Javascript, PHP, CSS, etc.).

  • Working familiarity of software development environments (VS code, Xcode, etc.).

  • Experience with MS Office tools.

  • Experience with office communication tools (MS Teams, Slack, etc.). DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications in Software Project Management.

  • Experience in structuring communications for large, dispersed teams.

  • Experience working with UW technology infrastructure and administrative systems.
