Amazon CloudFront is a content delivery technology that securely delivers data, videos, applications, and APIs to customers globally with low latency, and high transfer speeds, all within a developer-friendly environment. Our customers use CloudFront for fast and secure delivery of web/application content, on-demand video/music streaming, and live events streaming. The world's largest websites and streaming events run on CloudFront.

You will be the senior software leader for the CloudFront data plane. This team innovates on multiple fronts - we are building a ground-up rust based webserver to scale to the world's largest online traffic events, we innovate the newest http protocols to deliver the best security and performance, we innovate on advanced request handling for distributed systems, or fighting flashcrowds and DDoS on the servers. This is a highly impactful, rewarding and exciting role.

A day in the life

We are looking for an engineering leader for CloudFront to innovate and solve the hardest problems in scale, security, availability, and performance. An ideal candidate must have experience dealing with ambiguity and should enjoy building and operating one of the largest systems in the world with a relentless focus on operational and engineering excellence. In this role you will own the core webservers and request serving data plane of CloudFront. Your responsibilities will include all aspects of the service experience: Operational excellence, designing and building the software, and delivering on customer performance and scale expectations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $198,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
