Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer, Shopping Core Foundations in Seattle, Washington

Description

The Shopping Core Foundations (SCF) team owns capabilities used to build and enhance core shopping experiences across Amazon. We are looking for a senior SDE to join a new team that is responsible for delivering core capabilities of a new shopping experience. You have deep technical knowledge, high levels of customer obsession and are comfortable with a high-level of ambiguity. You are curious and are an effective engineering partner for science teams innovating the use of large language models driving new shopping CX. You will have an opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting edge products.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • partner with scientists, PEs and senior SDEs across Shopping, Search and Gen AI teams to build scalable primitives and solutions.

  • are comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and make effective tradeoffs balancing speed of delivery and long-term architecture.

  • mentor junior engineers and model design, coding and communication skills.

  • are curious and eager to combine engineering judgment with state-of-the-art development in LLMs.

  • forge strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders outside the team

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
