EBS Snapshots team is responsible for backing up EBS Volumes data. We are looking for a senior software development engineer to help us deliver the next generation services, improve architectures for availability and durability, and influence our roadmap.

This role provides a great opportunity for you to lead the team on solving challenging problems, work alongside outstanding engineers and leaders who obsess about performance, availability, scalability and durability of customer data. You will be developing features and optimizations that solve customers' real world problems.

A day in the life

Our customers include top companies in various domains. As a member of this team, you will have strong ownership over the design, implementation and operation of a massive scale distributed system. You will have the opportunity to work closely with an agile team that ships often, and see the impact your code has on a wide range of customers from startups to enterprise companies.

The ideal candidate would possess strong analytical, design, problem solving skills and experience in building & operating high performance systems at scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
