Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer, Career Choice Technology in Seattle, Washington

Description

Career Choice is an education benefit that empowers eligible employees to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. We, as Career Choice, believe that everyone who comes to Amazon should be able to build their career, and we are ready to support our employees wherever they are on their educational journey! We’re committed to empowering our employees by providing them access to the education and training they need to grow their careers.

If you enjoy solving hard problems and have designed products that scale to meet demand, combine the best of internal and external services, and grow to meet the complex needs of your customers, you will fit right in. We are technical experts, but we go further. We know technology always exists in a larger context, so we create technical solutions from our customer's perspective to guarantee our solutions always deliver the intended result.

In this role, you will own the design and development of major features from end-to-end, from Web UI to dependent services and persistent storage. Can you work with engineers from many backgrounds to translate designs into quality software that is highly scalable, available, low latency, and high performing... and reflects the best combination of the ideas in the room? If so, your design will get into production... so get ready to interact directly with the people who use your software, hear their feedback and use it to make your system even better!

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop services and user experiences using your expertise and experience with a variety of technologies.

  • You will deep-dive into distributed systems to design and optimize for performance, maintainability, scalability, and extensibility.

  • You will innovate and scale services, addressing problems that span new feature development to new system creation.

  • You will design and write clean, maintainable code and integrate data from a large number of services.

  • Focus on scalability, performance, service robustness, and cost trade-offs (especially as they pertain to a highly-virtualized, elastic, cloud-based environment.)

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, new services, and make recommendations for technology improvements that will help shape the future of podcast delivery architectures

  • Manage existing technical architecture and develop new systems using AWS-based solutions

  • Deliver Proof-of-Concepts and proposals for integrations with emerging technologies

  • Contribute to the development of yourself and colleagues through peer code-reviews and mentoring, improving the technical knowledge and engineering practices of your team.

  • Serve as a bridge between business need and technical implementation
