We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Security Architect to join our team. As the right candidate, you will possess technical skills in software architecture, information security, compliance initiatives, software deployment and cloud computing. You should also be able to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges. You are an influencer by nature, will be seen as someone that our software engineers and architects are eager to engage with, and have a hands-on approach with a bias for action. The ideal candidate has the ability to learn new concepts and technologies, is able to communicate effectively with a diverse set of customers or partners across multiple disciplines, and is able to work effectively across internal and external organizations and remote teams.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our B2B solutions not only meet but exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements while enabling magical experiences for our customers. Leveraging your deep expertise in information security and technical proficiency, you will guide our software engineers and architects in implementing cutting-edge solutions while using your judgment to balance risk and innovation.

You will build the bridges between security, technology, operations, and compliance by working directly with our product teams, infrastructure teams, corporate security teams, and third-party assessors and auditors. You should be a technically-experienced and innovative security and compliance professional who has the ability to understand business and security processes, effectively communicate with technical teams and business leaders alike, and be able to drive automated and scalable process improvements across internal teams and organizations.

Key job responsibilities

• Work with product teams, software engineers and architects to convey cloud computing security, compliance, and risk management best practices

• Work with InfoSec and other teams within Amazon to align security implementation with the broader enterprise standards and initiatives

• Develop technical content, such as reference architectures, training material to assist in deploying secure and compliant solutions

• Provide mentorship across the organization on security and compliance to scale knowledge

• Serve as a key member of the team, ensuring internal customer success in securely building applications and services

• Dive deep into the control environment to develop technical understanding of control implementation, and articulate compliance implementations to internal and external audit functions

• Develop broad domain and technical knowledge in AWS and Amazon corporate security solutions including the operational processes and controls in place that support compliance programs

• Develop and share program/project process frameworks, tools, and best practices that can be adopted throughout the organization

• Support compliance assessment, remediation and continuous improvements to the security organization, the program management process, and control implementation projects

• Effectively communicate results and impact of efforts to a broad audience including peers and senior leaders across participating organizations

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in any of the following areas: Security Architecture, DevSecOps, Security Engineering, or Security Operations

  • 5+ years of demonstrated security experience

  • Obtained a security industry certification from accreditation bodies such as (ISC)2, CompTIA, ISACA, or SANS

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or 2+ years of demonstrated experience of building on AWS infrastructure and services

  • Technical Degree (Computer Science, Math, Engineering or equivalent) and/or relevant tech experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience supporting control implementation for commercial or US government compliance regimes

  • Experience in designing, building, or operating large scale IT security systems - either on premises or in the cloud

  • Working knowledge of AWS cloud-native security architectures and best practices such as AWS Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)

  • Professional or Specialty AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, or Security Specialty)

  • Track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of business environments such as large enterprises and start-ups

  • Knowledge of a modern programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, .Net, Rust, Java, etc.) and/or scripting, Infrastructure as Code, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $95,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
