VMware Senior Quality Engineer - NSBU - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Seattle, Washington

NSX-T is a $1B per year run rate product that's deployed on-premise by Customers or MSPs and also in Clouds such as AWS/Azure where it is provided as a service. You will be joining a world class engineering team in improving Consumability, Quality and Scalability of NSX Transformers, an SDN+Security enterprise product. You will be a part of the SDET team that qualifies NSX-T for large scale deployments in Cloud and Customer sites. As a team, we consider ourselves to be the first customer. This means that we anticipate problems customers will experience before they experience them, and we do this through writing comprehensive end to end test cases. We utilize automation to build the test environments and execute the test cases. In addition to testing end to end functionality we also have the opportunity to think creatively, and shape the product features and behavior to create a better user experience for the customer. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

In six months, you will be :

  • Good understanding of Software Defined Networking and how it solves today's problems with traditional data centers.

  • Well trained in foundational and few advanced features in NSX-T

  • Automating new tests and integrating them to CI/CD pipeline

  • Basic understanding of how NSX-T fits into Cloud use cases and how NSX-T interacts in overall VMware solution

In twelve months, you will be :

  • an expert in NSX-T product, deployment and scalability.

  • working closely in development team in making feature, scalability & serviceability improvements

  • getting opportunities to participate in business requirement reviews with product management

  • working with test frameworks team in improving pytest based framework

  • have an early understanding of how our top customers are deploying & using NSX-T in their production and cloud

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Your regular responsibilities may be modified based on your learning curve, performance & interests, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments such as

  • be a strong advocate of Software Quality & regular follow-up with Dev to get a defect in resolved fix state.

  • work across teams with System Engineers, Support Engineers, and across the Development and QE Organizations

  • develop high-quality test code in python or a similar language to execute complex tests on a distributed system, streamline automation, reduce cycle times and track test deliverables to product release schedules.

  • collaborate and brainstorm with the team on Data center switching/routing and the best practices

  • be able to use your cloud and/or cloud native knowledge in solving complex problems that the team encounters

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
